The people who have read the Portwood Brothers series can usually be separated into two categories, those who love Bryce and those who hate him. I've made no secret which category I fall into. Bryce and I do not get along. When I wrote the first book and made the change to writing about the Portwood Brothers, I realized I would have to write Bryce's book. While revising Playing by the Rules, I thought about killing him off. I didn't, but I thought real hard about it again in Playing with Fire. Buckling down, I finally wrote Playing for the Win. After his book came out, I sighed in relief that I'd never have to write another book for Bryce again.
As I was living in my post Bryce writing world trying to draft a book in my upcoming series, Bryce came at me like the Kool Aid man. He demanded his story be told, and if you know one thing about Bryce, it's that when he's made up his mind that he wants something, he gets it. So I begrudgingly sat down at my computer and started to figure out the story that had come to me. What I realized while writing it was that I loved telling the story about how Bryce and Addison met and fell in love. I look at the couple and I wonder how on earth a guy like him could get a girl like her to agree to date him, much less have a long-term relationship and marry him. I also found that fans of the series agreed and that they wanted the story too.
It's with great pleasure, and a lot of pain, that I announce that Bryce is back! If you wanted to know how Bryce and Addison met and fell in love, this is the story for you. I'm excited for Playing it Cool to come out on July 14th, and I'm celebrating by giving away a Kindle Fire! All you have to do is read the book and at the end is a link for a quiz. Fill it out during release week, and I'll pick a winner and announce them on July 24th!
Now I'm going to leave you with the blurb and pre-order links for Playing it Cool. I've been asked several times if I'm doing signed paperback sales for this one. The answer is YES! I'll be posting about that soon so keep an eye out. This will be one of the last times you'll be able to get the original covers. If you want to add Playing it Cool to your Goodreads, you can do so here:

Playing it Cool
Addison has had her future mapped out since she was a little girl – pre-law degree from the University of Nebraska, getting into a top notch law school, followed by a career as a no-nonsense lawyer. She knows that a husband will come at some point, but she hasn’t figured that part out yet. One thing is certain, it’s not Bryce Portwood, the annoying class clown in her English class.
Bryce has never taken anything too serious. Life’s too short to get all worked up and never have fun. The moment Addison Webster opened her mouth, he knew she needed to let her hair down, and he wanted to be the one to help her. Getting Addison to hang out was easy. Getting her to lighten up and trust him, not so much.
Bryce has a plan. If he can get her to let go and have fun, maybe she’ll see he’s not so bad. If Bryce can just play it cool, maybe he can prove to her that he can fit into those well-laid plans after all.
