We're only a couple weeks into the new year, and I'm already falling behind. Not only do I have all the things going in my authoring world, but my personal life is busy at the moment too.
In case you haven't seen this floating around, I have a new series coming out. I loved writing the Portwood Brothers, but I'm not going to lie, I'm happy to be done with Bryce. There's no way he's crossing over into this series. YAY!
I know some people often wonder where I get my ideas, and what inspires my books. I thought I'd talk a little bit about what inspired this book.
First off, this book took a total nose dive. The plot ended up changing from what I'd originally thought it was going to be, but it didn't matter because the story had already started, and I was hooked. Where I got the idea probably isn't much of a surprise. I was in my car, and my kids wanted to listen to Hits 1 on the radio. One Direction was playing, and their hit song at the time was “Steal My Girl.” After hearing the song several times, something clicked. I imagined this kid who was on an American Idol type TV show and what that experience did to his life. From there, this book was born, and then the series.
I wrote the first quarter of this book right before I wrote Playing for the Win. I gave myself a month to let go and try and see what I could come up with. In that month I learned so much about the town I created, the characters you'll meet, and I knew that when I came back to it, I'd enjoy writing the rest of the book.
This book has it all: scandal, drama, and a second chance at love. Stay tuned for the reveal of my new release and a whole new series.
